Once a year, the Graduate Students Association gives awards to graduate students for their service to the campus. It’s called the Dixon-Levy Service Award. This year, three people received them, two of whom were geographers: Jim Marston and Sarah Battersby. Jim received it for his service to students with physical disabilities. (See article below about Jim’s kudos from the Chancellor.) Sarah received the award for several years of her service on various committees – – not just sitting in meetings, but doing an excellent job. For instance, she has served on the University Center Governance Board, the Events Center Governance Board, The Recreation Center Governance Board, and the Student Fee Allocation Committee.
