As published in the UCSB Faculty and Staff Newspaper “93106,” Geography faculty have won four grants totalling over a million dollars in the last month. Richard Church was awarded a $10,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to study “Fuel Treatment and Habitat Protection.” Linda Hill was awarded $56,322 by the University of Massachusetts for “Electronic Field Guides and Distributed Biodiversity Data.” Reginald Golledge, along with Jack Loomis in Psychology, was awarded $520,269 from the Sendero Group LLC for “Wayfinding Technologies for People with Visual Impairments: Research and Development of an Integrated Platform.” And Terry Smith, along with James Frew of the Bren School, was awarded $489,972 from the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research for a “Collaborative Project: Core Integration of the National SMETE Digital Library.”
