Chancellor Yang wrote to Geography’s Jim Marston on May 21, 2003:
- “It is with great pleasure and pride that I congratulate you on winning a University Service Award. In honor of all of this year’s award recipients, my wife Dilling and I would like to invite you to attend an awards presentation ceremony and reception in the Corwin Pavilion on Friday, June 13, 2003, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. As part of the event, we will recognize all those students selected for academic excellence and distinguished University service, as well as other significant awards.”
Jim received his PhD in Geography last year and is now a post-doctoral researcher in the Department. Five persons with disabilities nominated Jim for a UCSB service award for his work with disability and student advocacy and for attempting to improve the campus to make it more inclusive. Congratulations!
