Mike Goodchild and Reginald Golledge nominated by the University Consortium of Geographic Information Sciences’ (UCGIS) as Educator and Researcher of the Year, 2002


At the UCGIS Summer Assembly June 26-30, 2002 in Athens, Georgia, Mike Goodchild, has received the 2002 UCIGS Educator of the Year

Award while the Research Committee of the UCGIS has awarded Professor Reginald Golledge the 2002 Research Award.

At this same event, our own Sarah Battersby, grad student in Geography, whose submission got selected in a student paper competition, presented her research on “How much generalization is enough? Information theory in analytical cartography.”
