Phaedon Kyriakidis’ recent promotion to Associate Professor added to his academic repertoire, if not to his musical one. Phaedon’s research interests include geostatistics and spatial analysis, stochastic environmental modeling, and scale issues in spatial data integration. He is also faculty staff at the Earth Sciences Division, Berkeley National Laboratory, and he is currently working on two NSF grants—A systems approach to the visualization of spatial uncertainty and A geostatistical framework for downscaling spatial data. Phaedon also happens to be a talented musician who currently performs with the band “Mesogeios”(Greek for “Mediterranean”). You can hear extracts from the band’s CD “Due East”on Phaedon’s personal website — which also features a link to his home town in Kavala, Greece as well as baby pictures of his two charming daughters, Chrissa and Eleni.
