Keith Clarke Receives USGS Award

Geography Chair Keith Clarke formally received the 2005 John Wesley Powell Award on October 27th for having made “significant contributions to the advancement of the U.S. Geological Survey mission.” Acting USGS Director Patrick Leahy presented the award during the annual awards ceremony at USGS headquarters in Reston, Virginia. The Powell award is USGS’s highest award for achievement, and only four are awarded annually—see the previous article: August 22, 2005: “Keith Clarke Receives USGS’s Highest Award.”
