We welcome Katie O’Brien to our Department of Geography Staff.
As Student Programs Assistant, Katie will provide assistance with coordination of both graduate and undergraduate student programs for the department, as well as provide administrative and editing support as needed.
Katie earned her BS in Anthropology and Geography at California Polytechnic State University where she also minored in Women’s and Gender Studies. During college, she was employed by Associated Students, Inc. as Facilities Supervisor at the Cal Poly Recreation Center. She was also an Intern at the Dean of Students where she assisted with Safer, a confidential advocacy, education and support resource for addressing sexual assault.
Originally from Chapel Hill, NC, she has lived in Santa Barbara since 2008. After a year of travel, she is happy to be back home in the Golden State. In her free time, Katie enjoys cooking, reading and relaxing at the beach.
