Geography Department “Geog Gals” Participate in Corn Hole Tournament

For over 60 years, UC Santa Barbara has been proud to partner with United Way of Santa Barbara County to raise resources and mobilize volunteers to serve those most at risk locally.  This year a corn hole tournament was added to the roster of fundraising. The Geography Department represented with team “Geog Gals”, consisting of staff members Consuelo Rivera and Alycia Lewis.

The competition was tough with 24 teams entering.  The “Geog Gals” had a close loss in the second round to the team that ended up winning the whole tournament, “Like Father Like Son”.  Although the Geography Department did not win the tournament, Alycia Lewis stated, “It was so much fun, I hope they do it again next year!”

This years UCSB United Way Campaign successfully raised over $106,000.00, which will help support education enrichment programs, scholarships for students and parents, free children’s books, and much more.  The support of all the UC Santa Barbara faculty, staff and students that contributed this year, speaks to the strong commitment of our shared mission of education and giving back to our local community.
