Jeff Dozier, an Associated Faculty Member of the Geography Department and founding Dean of the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, recently received the William T. Pecora Award for outstanding contributions to remote Earth sensing. The award is sponsored jointly by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and was made for Professor Dozier’s “scientific excellence and leadership in snow hydrology, remote sensing, and information systems.” UCSB is the only university that can boast multiple winners of the award—David Simonett won it in 1991 and Jack Estes won it in 1999.
