Connie Padilla Receives Staff Citation of Excellence Award

Geography Personnel Analyst Connie Padilla has been awarded a 2004-2005 UCSB Staff Assembly Citation of Excellence Award “to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding achievements and meritorious service of career staff.”Only ten awards are made each year, and this is the first time in 14 years that a staff member of the Department of Geography has been selected (Teresa Everett, now a Personnel Analyst at the College of Letters and Science, received the award in 1991). This year, each recipient will receive $500 and a certificate. Presentation of awards will be made during the Staff Celebration Week Barbecue at 12 noon on May 13th, 2005.

In reviewing the nominations, the selection committee considered such qualities as job excellence, impact of work or performance, interpersonal skills, and extraordinary achievement. Connie fit the bill in every category and epitomized the last one by, among other things, liaising with The Dream Foundation to make Susanna’s Baumgart’s dying wish for an exhibition of her artwork a reality. As one of Connie’s supporters put it, “Just to say that Connie never misses a deadline, is extremely accurate, thoughtful, caring, conscientious, and fun to be around just isn’t enough – Connie is truly a star.”For more pictures from the event click here
