On Page 7 of the UC Office of Research publication NSF, there is an article about Professor Keith Clarke and then graduate student John Cloud’s research about the Corona project. John Cloud’s dissertation was on the Corona project. Corona was the CIA’s super-secret surveillance of the earth from satellites. It ran from 1960 to 1972, when it was replaced by more advanced technology. “Corona is a prime example of a technology developed for military purposes that has had tremendous spin-offs for the civilian sector,” Keith is quoted in the article. The Office of Research has posted the 8-page magazine on-line.
