Nearly 400 people attended the first ever Esri Science Symposium as part of both the UC and the GIS Education conferences [hosted by Esri Chief Scientist and UCSB Geography alumna Dawn Wright]. A very stimulating and enjoyable time was had by all. Here are some resources to visit:
- Esri blog post announcing the symposium
- Keynote of Dr. Margaret Leinen, Director of Scripps Institution of Oceanography and President of the American Geophysical Union at http://esriurl.com/sci2016. Her keynote was entitled, “What will be necessary to understand and protect the planet… and us?” A reaction panel of distinguished GIScientist was chaired by UCSB Geography emeritus professor Mike Goodchild, and included UCSB geography alumnus Marco Painho.
